How is the game re-started?

There are only two ways the game can be restarted:

  • Rollball
You must be standing with your shoulders parallel to the try line (i.e. not at an angle) and roll the ball through your legs.  You may play the ball with your foot but this is not required.

You may not delay the rollball or roll the ball more than 1m

An incorrect rollball will result in a handover.

  • Penalty tap
The ball must be place on the floor, tapped with the foot (only) through the mark and then picked up.

A penalty can be played as a rollball but not vice versa.

Please note that an incorrect penalty tap will result in a turnover with a subsequent roll.

When a penalty is award there are only TWO options:

    • Return the ball to the mark of the penalty.
    • Give the ball to an opposition player if they are calling for it.

Failure to do either of these will result in a 10m penalty.  Repeat offenders will receive further sanctions.
